New Marlborough Bra Sewing Pattern for DDD to J cups!

New Marlborough Bra Sewing Pattern Size Range by Orange LingerieEver since I released the Marlborough bra sewing pattern, the number one request I receive is to add more sizes. So starting today a new Marlborough bra sewing pattern is available for DDD to J cups for size 30 to 40 bands. I am super excited to be able to make this beautiful bra sewing pattern available to even more sewists!

The new size range is a separate pattern primarily because grading sizes above DD is different than grading sizes below DD. Also, as you would expect, there were a few changes to the pattern to get the same styling, lift and shaping for the new size range.

To refine the fit and grading for the new size range, I was incredibly fortunate to have the support of some amazing fit models including Jenny from Cashmerette! Jenny was incredibly patient, trying on multiple variations of the Marlborough bra to find the perfect fit! I recommend checking out her patterns which are available by cup size!

For your reference, here is a sister size chart for the new pattern. You can read my post about sister sizing that includes a tutorial on how to alter the band to get the sister sizes that are outside of the pattern range (the gray text in this table).

This announcement made my day! I’m not sure I finished reading the blog before heading to your shop *grins* I’m so excited I can try this pattern out… And because I’m greedy – any chance the Boylston is up next????

Start with the 40J and add 1¾” to the band where it joins to the frame to get to a 44H! As with any pattern alteration, I recommend testing first! 🙂

Yay, the larger sizes for Marlborough are out! Now all I need to do is wait for Boylston. Are you still planning on releasing a larger size range for that pattern too?

This is the first request for something smaller than an A cup for my underwire bra patterns! While I do not plan to add those sizes to the underwired range, I will definitely consider AA cup sizes when I create a wireless bra pattern!

So excited to make my first bra! I’m measuring between a 40DD and a 40DDD. I’m leaning toward buying the pattern in the larger sizes. Is that what you would recommend?

I purchased regular underwires from Bra-Makers Supply in sizes 46 and 48 to check for underwire size. The 46 seemed a smidgen too small. The 48 seemed a smudge too big (perhaps just too long).

I’ve read and reread your book. My next step is to buy the pattern and fabric.

I’ve known that my current bras didn’t fit great for awhile, but since I read your book, they have become unbearably uncomfortable. I don’t think the bras have changed in just a few weeks, just my awareness of how they should be working has magnified my discomfort.

I’m so grateful that you are so willing to share your bra making knowledge!
